It will be a matter of my delight if an option is asked for becoming a plant of choice. I rate plant life better than humans considering the NISKAM service they do to nature. Among the plants, I will prefer to be a BANIAN tree. The option is based on following considerations:
BANIAN tree has a majestical personality that attracts everyones attention.
This tree is supportive to vide variety of fauna e.g. avian, insects, reptiles, amphibians, and thus useful in strengthening biodiversity. It provides food, shelter, shade to a range of beneficiary.
Timber and leaves are of commercial value.
BANIAN tree absorbs high amount of atmospheric CO2 and in lieu produces good amount of O2. Thus, it is useful in maintaining a healthy environment.
It's own requirements are very limited. Marginal soils, less water and minimum care conditions do not affect its growth. More so, it is very easy to multiply by seed, cuttings or roots.
It is very fast growing hence it starts giving benefits quickly after planting.
It lives very long. Thus, ones planted continues to give service for a pretty long time.
