Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

F = 78.54 N

● Explanation -

# Given -

Y = 2.0× 10^11 Nm^-2

L = 2 m

d = 1 mm = 10^-3 m

l = 1 mm = 10^-3 m

F = ?

# Solution -

Formula for Young's modulus is -

Y = stress / strain

Y = (F/A) / (l/L)

F = Y × πr^2 × l / L

F = 2.0× 10^11 × π×(0.5×10^-3)^2 × 10^-3 / 2

F = 78.54 N

Hence, 78.54 N weight have to be suspended from a steel wire.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
