To Half your weight from 60kg to 30kg you have to go some place where gravity is half of the gravity of earth. And that place is moon.

Explanation:

Now, we will calculate the distance which someone has to cover to half one’s weight.

gravitational acceleration due to mood = 4.9 ms^(-2)

We know that,

g = GM/r^2

By putting the value of “g” given above, mass of earth, and gravitational constant, we get,

r = 9037337.51 km

Answer:

Explanation:

Given :-

Weight on the earth, mg = 60 kg wt

Radius of the earth, R = 6400 × 10³ m

To Calculate :-

Distance from the surface of the earth, h = ?

Formula to be used :-

Weight = m × g

We know that mass is a constant quantity and only acceleration due to gravity changes from place to place, so we have to find out new acceleration due to g' such that mg' = 30 kg wt

Dividing we have,

mg/mg' = 60/30

g/g' = 2

But, g = GM/R²

g' = GM/(R + h)²

g/g' = GM/R²/GM/(R + h)²

g/g' = (R + h/R)² = 2

R + h = √2R

h = (√2 - 1)R

h = (1.414 - 1) × 6400 × 10³ m

Solving we get, h = 2.65 × 10₆ m.

Hence, the surface of earth is 2.65 × 10₆ m.
