2 { \cos( theta) }^{2}  =  \frac{1}{2}

{ \cos( theta) }^{2}  =  \frac{1}{4}

 \cos(theta)  =  \frac{1}{2}

But

 \cos(60)  =  \frac{1}{2}

therefore

theta = 60
