Explanation:

Carbon dioxide released in the atmosphere creates a green house effect by trapping the heat radiated from the earth. It is therefore called a greenhouse gas and without it the earth would have been too cold to live in.

It protects us from the harmful rays of the sun. It consists of several gases in which nitrogen and oxygen occupy the major portion. (ii) Nirtrogen (78%) and oxygen (21%) make the bulk of the atmosphere. (iii) Carbon dioxide creates greenhouse effect in the atmosphere.
