Atomic radius goes on increasing down in group because while going down in group from top to bottom, number of shells increases by 1 nd the number of electrons in the valance shell also increases.

Answer:

  1. As we move from top to bottom in a group, number of shells increases.
  2. The outermost electrons go farther and farther from the nucleus, extending the radius and ultimately increasing the size of the atom even though the nuclear charge increases.

Hence, atomic radius goes on increasing down a group.

Hope you understood mate!!!
