Answer:

Non metallic oxides react with water to form non metallic hydroxides which are acids.

Metallic oxides react with water to form metallic hydroxides which are bases.

'A' is Hydrogen Gas (H₂), 'B' is Oxygen gas (O₂), 'C' is water (H₂O)

The standard test for water is to use cobalt (II) chloride paper. Cobalt chloride paper is paper soaked in cobalt(II) chloride (CoCl₂) solution. It is used to test for the presence of water because it turns from blue to pink upon exposure to water.

The other test is to add white crystals of (anhydrous) copper sulphate (CuSO₄) to the substance and if a blue solution is obtained, then substance is water.

Explanation:

Upon reacting any metal with HCl, Hydrogen gas is evolved (Remember this, it is a standard property)

On heating KClO₄, Oxygen gas is evolved.
