I think the question should be:

Prove that (x^2 + 2xy - y^2)^2, (x^2 + y^2)^2 and (x^2 - 2xy - y^2)^2 are in AP

In which case it's easily proven by checking if difference between 2nd and 1st term & 3rd and 2nd term are equal or not
