it breaks down in the cytoplasm of the cell. in lack of o2 it will release lactic acid. atp is the energy currency of the cell.

Glucose is breakdown into pyruvate in cytoplasm,this process is called Glycolysis.
[It is the common process in all types of breakdown]

In lack of O2
In muscle cells it takes place in lack of O2.
Their end products are:-
Lactic acid and energy

The energy currency of cell is ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate.
