p=\dfrac{5}{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, (x_{1} =-2,y_{1} =-5),(x_{2} =2,y_{2} =-2) and (x_{3} =8,y_{3} =p)

To find, the value of p = ?

Then, Area of triangle = 0

x_{1} (y_{2}-y_{3}) +x_{2} (y_{3}-y_{1})+x_{3} (y_{1}-y_{2})=0

(-2)(-2-p) +2(p+5)+8(-5+2)=0

+4+2p+2p+10+8(-3)=0

4p+14-24=0

4p-10=0

4p=10

⇒p=\dfrac{10}{4} =\dfrac{5}{2}

p=\dfrac{5}{2}

Thus, p=\dfrac{5}{2}
