Hey !!

-> 3 times of the object. So the magnification is ±3.

So, therefore

            Focal length will be -6 cm.

Magnification formula,

            m =  f/f - u

Now,

       m = - 3 ( Real image )

Substituting the values in the magnification formula,

      - 3 =  -6 / -6 - u

   u = -8 cm

m = 3 (Virtual image)

 => 3 = - 6 / - 6 - u

=> u = -4 cm

Option (A) -4 cm

Good luck !!
