The maximum focal length required is of 3m.

As the light bulb acts as an infinity & point size object for a lens and the rays of light incidents parallel to the principal axis. After refraction, the refracted ray of light forms a point size image at the principal focus. As the image distance and the focal length are equal; so your answer is 3m
