Answer:

f = -50cm

v = -10cm

1/f = 1/v - 1/u

1/u = 1/v - 1/f

u= f-v/ fv (by LCM)

or u= fv/f-v

u= (-50) × (-10) / (-50)-(-50)

u = (+500)/ (-40)

u = -12.5

the distance of the object from the lens is -12.5cm.
