Dear Rajiv,
I hope you are enjoying good health. I received your letter on Monday and everyone in my house was looking forward to a letter from your side. I am enjoying my school after winter vacations. I visited Kolkata, Mumbai and Chandigarh during the vacations and enjoyed a lot with my friends.
I wanted to write letter to you last week, but could not find much time. I want to tell you about the new and innovative idea which I got to witness during my visit to Kolkata. An NGO has set up community fridges in the neighboring schools, colleges so that school kids can donate their lunch box to those who don’t have any lunch. They are raising awareness in the schools, colleges to encourage the children to fill these fridges with food to help the needy people. It’s a new idea and it is getting quite popular in the country.
It’s a great idea to set up community fridges around schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants, etc. These community fridges are creating awareness about leftover food, at the same time, an opportunity to the people to donate food to those, who don’t have. The people who are needy have access to these fridges around the clock without any shame of asking for food. This will make it easier to help the hungry people.
I also contacted this NGO and arranged a refrigerator in my society where I and my family put my excess food to help the poor people. It also helped my neighbors to fill it with leftover food, hence, it has greatly reduced wastage of food not in my home but also in my neighbors.
I am also thinking about working with this NGO to raise social awareness among the people. I know, with the use of these kind of community fridges, we can help people.
I hope you will be able to come here during your next holidays. My parents convey to you their love and all the members of our house wish you best of luck for your final exams.
