Imagine that after the events described in the story (in passage 3), Mama and Maud Martha have a conversation, and confess to each other what they were actually feeling when earlier they though they would lose their house. Draft that conversation in the form of a dialogue - keeping in mind the personal details, personality traits, and speaking styles of the two characters that can be gleaned from the short story. Use appropriate stage directions wherever necessary. (Answer in about 350- 500 words

Answer:

Mama enters:

Mama: "Dear Martha, when are you planning to pack your bags?"

Maud Martha: "I was just thinking of not packing my bags, I feel heavy on heart, I don't want to leave this childhood house of ours, there are a million memories in this house"

Mama: "Well, not if we move a nice big flat somewhere in Michigan, it would be a lovely experience leaving behind this sub urban house that has made us no fortune, now is the time let this go"

Martha exclaims, startled:

Maud Martha: "Mom, do you really want to leave this house? no matter how harsh our condition is, at least this house is like a haven to us, we cannot just leave it and sell it! can we?"

Mama: "Well, ear Martha, it is indeed overwhelming to leave this house, I myself don't want to go, but this is all we have left to do"

Explanation:

In literature, dialogue is a verbal exchange between two or more characters. A monologue occurs when just one character speaks loudly.
