Dear Friend:
I write to you in as a grief-stricken and dejected father after the loss of my beloved daughter.I am perhaps the worst and most wretched father in the world who killed his own daughter! Did I need my daughter’s life’s sacrifice to realize anger is a universal vice? It is the antithesis of love. It not only harms, injures or destroys( depending upon its intensity) the receiver, but also inflicts irreparable injury and hurt on the receiver. I became mad with rage when my daughter defied me and eloped with the Chieftain of Ulva clan. In anger, I followed my daughter and her lover with the intention of slaying the Chieftain. The couple knew it. So while fleeing from my rage, when they were crossing the stormy sea, my innocent daughter drowned with her lover and the boatman.
I could not do anything to save her, though I wanted to forgive her. I was left repenting over my mad decision of not allowing my daughter to marry her lover. Now, when she is gone forever, I feel so penitent. O God, how shall I live with this burden on my heart? I must also drown in the same sea, where my daughter was drowned! Do give me some comfort! The funeral has been done! Do visit me soon!
Yours wretchedly,
Lord Ullin
