story on proverb well begun is half done

Not quite long ago in the city of Ludhiana lived an ordinary boy. Owing to his young age, he did not know the value of being focused, disciplined, responsible, and industrious. He would often avoid studying; the sight of kites in the sky would tempt him to rush out and while away his most of leisure time flying kites and running after them in the fields. He would return home after the dark and then watch TV until he felt sleepy. Thus life went on smoothly until the final examination date sheet was handed to him.
The moment he saw the date sheet, he felt the presence of a heavy burden on his heart. ‘How will I pass the exams?’ thought he. At home his mother noticed his worry. She asked him, “What has happened to you? You are not your normal self!” “Nothing ma; I am just worried about my exams. I feel I have not studied enough” replied the boy. “Well, that’s bound to happen. You never ever heeded my reminders to study. However, you still have plenty of time. Just give your hundred percent to your subjects. Study and revise as much as you can, you will definitely do well” encouraged the mother.
The boy honoured his mother’s advice. He determined to turn over a new leaf. He started studying early morning and in all the free time he had. He had just followed his time table meticulously for a week, when he regained his lost self-confidence and understanding about his subjects. He kept on studying till his examinations. As a result of his labour, he fared through his examinations with flying colours. When the result was declared, he managed to score A1 in all subjects.
He had felt the confidence just after a week’s self-control and hard work. He had just begun well, and half his achievement had already been accomplished. So always begin well, and the rest of the task is just a cinch afterwards.
