That was a very great day for me, I first time participated in a movement which is for our nation. It is true that doing something for our society specially for country makes us feel proud and patriotic.
Complete nation would never come on its own. It had to be fought for and this is what Gandhi ji were trying on. It was 1930 when Gandhi ji declared that he would lead a march to break the salt law. According to that law, the state had a monopoly on the manufacture and sale of salt. I had a feeling that it was sinful to tax salt since it is such an essential item oF our food. The Salt March related the general desire of freedom to a specific grievance shared by me and everybody.
Gandhi ji and his followers along with me marched for over 240 miles from Sabarmati to the coastal town of Dandi where we broke the government law by gathering natural salt found on the seashore, and boiling sea water to produce salt.
Conclusively, I would say that this whole journey gave me some teachings and learnings towards patriotism. The March to Dandi was a movement of courage to oppose the Simon Commission.
Hope this helps
