Dear,

My dearest friend, I hope this letter finds you well.On my side things are not what I imagined when I left to come to this strange land. The months don’t seem to be ending and life has become a nightmare that does not seem  to come to an end. If you remember, when I came here I thought I would find a better life, however things are not so.

My friend, as an indenture laborer I imagined the Caribbean would bring prosperity - instead today I am reduced to nothing but a number. My name and humanity seem meaningless as I’m only identified as number 320. How I miss to come back home, for this strange land has not shown me mercy. When you pray, remember me in your prayers that I may return home soon.

Much Love,
