Santhal Revolt was started in 1855-56C.E. This revolt spread in Hazaribagh, Palamu, Singhbhum, Bhagalpur and Munger . The reasons of this revolt were
1. committing the atrocities of people by land revenue officers
2. exploitation by the police
3. taxes being forcefully taken by landlords and moneylenders
Although the Britishers crushed this revolt in 1856, yet they had to form an independent and separate Santhal pargana.
