I The following speech
can give you ideas, matter, etc, for your own asl speaking task:
As a student I strongly feel that media and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter have become source of major distractions for students. Young boys and girls seem to have become inordinately addicted to these sites. They are thoughtlessly and uselessly wasting their precious time on these sites. Wise people say time well utilized is time well spent, but the youth of today is only and only wasting time on chatting, messaging, uploading photographs and modifying profiles. The smart phones and 4G connections have made the situation worse. Accessing such sites has become so easy that young boys and girls are using these sites almost everywhere and almost all the time. Similarly they wait for their favourite TV programs with such intense longing! May I ask you a question’, Where will this lead to?’ Are we heading towards only Facebook and Twitter perfection? Where are the objectives of attaining the status of an advanced country? There are so many challenges that we as a nation face. Challenges, such as population, poverty, unemployment, corruption, pollution, mismanagement of our natural resources, etc. Is it not a pathetic attitude of our youth to lose such objectives out of sight and instead waste their time, money and energy on such social networking sites so recklessly? Will Facebooking, Whatsapping or Twittering solve our national problems? I have seen my fellow students being more worried about connecting to their friends on Facebook than being concerned about doing their studies, assignments and projects! The other major disadvantage of the increasing use of such networking sites is the spread of obscenity. This is having a very negative impact on the impressionable minds of our young children and leading them astray. I strongly believe that the parents, teachers and the government must look into the problems being caused by these networking sites and must formulate a strategy either to curb or completely stop its fast growing negative influence on the minds of our youth. Our youth is the future of our nation. We cannot allow this youth to waste their precious time in doing the Facebook. The same time must be spent on studying, researching and developing leadership or other life-skills. It is our moral duty as well as responsibility to lead our youth on the right path. I would like to appeal to all of you to contribute in making our youth, especially the school students, aware of the disadvantages of such social networking sites. I would also like to appeal to the concerned government authorities to make and implement some strict regulatory checks on the functioning of such networking sites in our country. I am sure that with our concerted efforts, we shall be able to remove this problem of addiction of our youth to social networking sites.

It has rightly been said by someone in Africa 'If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a woman.' In the light of the above mentioned axiom, empowering the girl child with education is the best and the wisest option a nation could have in empowering itself. In the big vast of our world, many nations in African, Asian, and South American continents are still grappling with the problems of backwardness. Hunger, poverty, unemployment, poor standards of living, poor medical facilities, poor education, etc, are still lingering on in the developing countries. Empowering girl child with education is the only panacea. With her education, not only she will be benefited, she will spread the light of education all around her. She will teach her brothers, sisters, neighbors, and other adults; this will lead to a positive ripple effect that will lead to skill enhancement and the prospects of being hired by competent companies will increase. Besides, an educated girl child ensures the surety of other educated family members. So empowering girl child with education is the best investment a nation can make! The objectives of making India afully developed country by our government won't be fulfilled until 100% literacy is achieved, including the girls'. The survey statistics don't augur well. Still in many backward areas the girls enrollment has been going on very low. In spite of the government's many initiatives, the reality remains unpromising. Government alone won't be able to accomplish this Herculean task. We the people will have to join hands and launch campaigns to promote girls' literacy and education. We will have to relaunch the campaign 'Each One Teach One' to really empower the girl children with education. The first target must be 100% literacy of girls in India. Let’s empower girls with education for all round development and progress of our nation.
