Importance of Biomechanics:
- Biomechanics is the study of human motion. The study of biomechanics is important when determining what causes injuries and therefore how we can prevent them re-occurring. This is especially important in elite athletes but can be a major cause in recurrent injuries in the less gifted amateur athlete.
- In sport and exercise, biomechanics refers to the study of human movements, including the interaction between the athlete, sport equipment and the exercise environment. Athletes are always trying to find ways to get faster, higher and stronger with minimal injuries.
- Biomechanics was used by experts in developing exercise programs and training devices to improve performance. Strength and conditioning professionals apply the principle of biomechanics in training athletes. Biomechanics research also leads to the development of new techniques.
