Similar to the phenomenon of mitosis, meiosis refers to eukaryotic cell division. Both of the processes leads to the distribution of genetic material where the daughter cells lead to very different results in both of the process.

When it comes to cell mitosis it leads to the creation of two kind of identical daughter cells containing the same amount of chromosomes of the parent cell. However in meiosis it leads to the creation of cells that later on becomes gametes.

Meiosis is a process where a single cell divides twice to produce four cells containing half the original amount of genetic information. These cells are our sex cells – sperm in males, eggs in females.
