These nerves carry information to and from the central nervous system to provide complex body functions. Sensory cells are involved in taking information from the periphery to the central nervous system.

Visceral nerves- special type of nerves that connects spinal cord to the internal organs

Cranial nerves- the nerves present in head

Spinal nerves- the nerves which arise from spinal cord and extends throughout the body except head.
