Chemicals can be added to the soil to adjust the ph and make it suitable to grow plants. When soil is too acidic then it is treated with material like limestone or slaked lime. And vice versa in the case of too basic soil.

In humans, ph is important at the same scale. We have maintain our ph in blood, saliva, tears , etc. Ph is also important in the part of digestion in our body as in the secretion of HCl in stomach, etc.
