Prudential Reasons

2. It helps to maintain unity among different social groups.
3. It provides a good way to ensure the stability of political order.

Moral Reasons

1. It is the very spirit of democracy.
2. It includes debate and discussion that provides people right to be consulted.
3. People through participation acquire a stack in the system.

Power sharing:

An agreement to share power and responsibility of decision making and governance among different ethnic,social and political groups is known as power sharing.

There are four different types of power sharing:

1. Horizontal division of power :Division of power among different governmental institutions.
2. Vertical Division of power:Share of power among different tiers of government
3. Power can also be shared among different social and religious groups.
4. Power is also shared among different political parties.

There are two sets of reasons which justify power sharing:

Moral Reasons:

✓In a democracy,power has to be shared with those who are affected with it's exercise and those who have to live with it's effects.

✓Citizens have the right to choose their representatives.

✓A legitimate government is one in which ,people achieve a stake in the government by political participation.

Prudential reasons:

→_→Imposing the majority will on the minority community may be an attractive option in short run,but undermines national integrity in longer run
