The nature of psychology and social work reveal a close relationship between them. Psychology as well as social work is a close helping profession that study individuals. The former focuses on human behavior and examines how the human mind functions. The latter deals with provision of social, mental, emotional, and welfare services (but not limited to) to victims of the aforementioned. Their presence in the society is however inevitable because their aim is to solve the problems of social role functioning as well as meeting individuals need. This does not make them the same but makes them similar. They differ because their professional focus is different. Social work provides social services to clients while psychologists emphasize more on cognitive process and behaviors, thereby providing mental health services. However, psychology is extremely relevant to social work. This discussion will clearly point out the relevance of psychology to social work.
