Genetics is the study of heredity and the variation of inherited characteristics . DNA contains genes and during formation of gametes this information is transmitted to the gametes. Gametes fuse together combining information from the Father and Mother . The genes acquired by the progeny will produce mRNA( messenger RNA) which will encode protein. This is how characters are transmitted in an organism.
