Irish nationalism is an ideology which asserts that the Irish people are a nation. It is the Irish version of nationalism. Since the partition of Ireland, the term often refers to support for a united Ireland, as opposed to the right-wingnationalist ideologies in many European countries in the 1920s & 30s. Irish nationalists assert that foreign rule has been to the detriment of Irish interests.
