A piece of wire of Resistance 'R' is cut into 5 equal parts. These parts are connnected in parallel if the equivalent resistance of this combination is Req the find the ratio R/Req.

when resistor's are in parallel combination,
1/Req=1/R1+1/R2+1/R3.........
1/Req=5/R+5/R+5/R+5/R+5/R
=>1/Req=25/R
=>R/Req=25/1
=>R:Req=25:1

Resistance is proportional to the length of wire and inversely proportional to the area of cross-section. IF length is 1/5th, then Resistance is also 1/5 th of the original value.

So, the ratio :- 25:1
