Given that:

  • Imran bought 3 dozen eggs at the supermarket.
  • When he got home he was upset because 2 by 3 of them were is broken.

To Find:

  • How many eggs were broken?

We know that:

  • 1 Dozen = 12 units

Finding the total number eggs bought:

  • 1 Dozen eggs = 12 eggs
  • 3 Dozen eggs = 12 × 3 = 36 eggs

Finding number of eggs broken:

2/3 of them were broken.

= 2/3 × 36

= (2 × 36)/3

= 72/3

= 24

Hence,

  • 24 eggs were broken.
