Let the present ages of A and B be A and B respectively

So, after 10 years,

A + 10 = 2( B- 10)

A + 10 = 2B - 20

A = 2B - 20 - 10

A= 2B - 30                   (1)

Also, presently,

A = B + 9                                 (2)

Using (1) and (2),

2B - 30 = B + 9

So, 2B - B = 9 + 30

B = 39 years old

Also,

A = 2B - 30 = (2 * 39) - 30 = 78 - 30 = 48 years old

Answer : The present ages of A and B are 48 and 39 years respectively. So, the present age of B is 39 years old.

Hope it helps!
