The Railway line from Puttar to Renigunta was the first railway line that was constructed in the modern state of Andhra Pradesh in 1862.

The State of Andhra Pradesh at that time was under the Madras Presidency. As the Madras was the important presidency of the British, so the construction of railway lines also began earlier in this Presidency.

The Railway line is also known as Arknonam-Raichur NW Mainline.
