Annie Besant was born on 1st October 1847 in London, United Kingdom. She was a British socialist, writer, theosophist, and women's rights activist.

She joined in the Indian party of Indian National Congress in 1914. She was the founder of a weekly newspaper 'Commonweal' in 1914.
