Answer:

Let the amount of water & dettol be n & 3n.

AnswEr:-

New ratio of volume in new mixture= 2 : 3

\rule{200}{1}

Given :-

☛ Total mixture = 240 ml

☛ Ratio of water & Dettol = 1 : 3

To find:-

New ratio of water & dettol if 60 ml of water is mixed = ?

Solution:-

Let the volume of water be y and volume of dettol be 3y.

According to question:-

⇒ y + 3y = 240

⇒ 4y = 240

⇒ y = 240/4

⇒ y = 60 ml

VOLUME OF WATER & DETTOL:-

↠ Volume of water = y = 60 ml

↠ Volume of dettol = 3y = 3(60) = 180 ml

Now ratio in new mixture:-

⇒New volume of water = 60 + 60 ml

New volume of water = 120 ml

And,

Volume of dettol = 180 ml

NEW RATIO:-

⇒ Ratio of water & dettol = 120 : 180

  • Dividing both by 60 :-

New ratio of water & dettol = 2 : 3

Therefore,

New ratio of volume of water & dettol in new mixture = 2 : 3 .
