In 3 fractions when the largest
fraction is divided by smallest fraction
the result 5/4 is greater than the middle fraction by 1/2, if sum of the three fraction is 2(3/12), what will be the difference between largest and smallest fraction.?

Step-by-step explanation:

Let largest fraction x, middle y,smallest z

As per question x/z=5/4

So,x=5z/4

Given y=5/4-1/2=3/4

also given x+y+z=27/12=9/4

So,5z/4+3/4+z=9/4

5z/4+z=9/4-3/4=6/4

or 9z/4=6/4

or9z=6

or,z=6/9=2/3

Since x=5z/4=5/4×2/3=5/6

So,x-z=5/6-2/3=1/6 Answer

Answer:

1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the largest fraction be x, the middle fraction be y and smallest fraction be z.

Given:- \frac{x}{z} = \frac{5}{4} and \frac{5}{4} = \frac{1}{2} +y and x + y+z = 2\frac{3}{12}

To Find:- Difference between largest and smallest fraction.

Solution:-

As, \frac{5}{4} = \frac{1}{2} +y

y = \frac{5}{4} -\frac{1}{2}

y = \frac{5-2}{4}

y = \frac{3}{4}

As, \frac{x}{z} = \frac{5}{4}

x = \frac{5z}{4}

Putting y = \frac{3}{4} and x = \frac{5z}{4} in equation x + y+z = 2\frac{3}{12}, we get

\frac{5z}{4} +\frac{3}{4} +z = \frac{27}{12}

\frac{5z+3+4z}{4}  = \frac{27}{12}

9z + 3 = \frac{27}{3}

9z+3 = 9

z = \frac{9-3}{9}

z = \frac{2}{3}

So, x = \frac{5}{4} * \frac{2}{3}  ⇒ x = \frac{5}{6}.

Hence, the difference between largest and smallest fraction becomes \frac{5}{6} -\frac{2}{3} = \frac{1}{6}
