Analysis

In this question, we will put into use the formula to derive the diagonal in order to find the length of the longest stick that can be placed in the box.

Solution,

Length = 12 cm

Breadth = 15 cm

Height = 3 cm

Formula to find the diagonal

= \sf{\sqrt{l^2+b^2+h^2}}

where,

→ l denotes length

→ b denotes breadth

→ h denotes height

= \sf{\sqrt{12^2+15^2+3^2}}

= \sf{\sqrt{144+225+9}}

=\sf{\sqrt378}

= 19.44 cm

∴ The length of the longest stick that can be placed in the box is the length of the diagonal of the box, which is 19.44 cm.
