Given:
Number of heads = 28
Number of feet = 72
-
Assumed all parrots:
Number of feet = 28 x 2 = 56
-
Calculate the extra feet:
Extra feet = 72 - 56 = 16
-
Calculate the difference in feet between rabbits and parrots:
4 - 2 = 2
-
Find the number of rabbits:
Rabbits = 16 ÷ 2 = 8
-
Find the number of parrots:
Parrots = 28 - 8 = 20
-
Answer: Rabbits = 8, Parrots = 20
-
Check: (8 x 4)+ (20 x 2) = 72

let R=rAbbits
p=parrots
rabbits n parrots each have one head
so ur head equation be r+p=28
but rabbits have 4 feet n parrots have 2 so the feet equation be
4r+2p=72
2r+p=36 aftr dividing by 2
now subtract your head eqn from p equation so R=18
hence 18+p=28
p=10
R=18
P=10
p=parrots
rabbits n parrots each have one head
so ur head equation be r+p=28
but rabbits have 4 feet n parrots have 2 so the feet equation be
4r+2p=72
2r+p=36 aftr dividing by 2
now subtract your head eqn from p equation so R=18
hence 18+p=28
p=10
R=18
P=10
