According to the question AUGUST is written as 26–19–4–17–14–14 , i.e. A is coded as 26 and same applies to others.

A actually has 1st place according to alphabetical order and it is coded as 26. It means one alphabet backwards from A.

U comes on 21 st place and is coded as 19 that is two less than its number, i.e. 21-2 = 19

G comes on 7 and it is then coded as 4 which means three less than its place, i.e. 7-4 = 3

That means the code sequence is its place number in the word less than the alphabetical number on which letter comes.

So, JANUARY will be coded as 9–25–11–17–22–12–18
