Answer:

84 additional teachers must be hired.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a certain school district, the student-teacher ratio is 25:1

Currently, the school district has 3150 students.

Therefore, current number of teachers =3150 . \frac{1}{25} = 126

Now, if the student enrollment increases by 20%, then the new number of students will be 3150 . (1 + \frac{20}{100} ) = (315) . (12) = 3780

In order to improve the student-teacher ratio to 18:1, number of teachers will have to be = 3780 . \frac{1}{18} = 210

Also, it is given that none of the current teachers leave.

Therefore, the number of additional teachers must be hired is (New number of teachers - Current number of teachers) = 210 - 126 = 84
