given that,

→ Adult men : Adult women = 3 : 5 -------- Eqn.(1)

and,

→ Adult women : Children = 2 : 7 -------- Eqn.(2)

In order to make same ratio of adult women in both case ,

multiply Eqn.(1) by 2 and Eqn.(2) by 5 , we get,

→ Adult men : Adult women = 2(3 : 5) = 6 : 10

→ Adult women : Children = 5(2 : 7) = 10 : 35

then,

→ Adult men : Adult women : Children = 6 : 10 : 35 .

therefore,

→ The ratio of the number adults (men and women together) to the number of children = (Adult men + Adult women) : children = (6 + 10) : 35 = 16 : 35 (d) (Ans.)
