Answer:

(2)\frac{4P}{9}

Explanation:

1) Let the current in the branch containing R_2 and R_3 be i_2 and i_3 respectively.

2) According to the question ,

P=i^2R_1=i^2R

3) Since,  R_2 and R_3  are connected in parallel to each other.

They have, same potential difference.

By Ohm's Law,

=>\frac{i_2}{i_3}=\frac{R_3}{R_2}=\frac{2R}{R}=2 \\ \\=>i_3=\frac{i_2}{2}

4)  Now,

According to KCL,

i=i_2+i_3\\ \\=i_2+\frac{i_2}{2}=\frac{3i_2}{2}=>i_2=\frac{2i}{3}

P_{R_2}=i_2^2R_2= (\frac{2i}{3})^2*R=\frac{4i^2R}{9} =\frac{4P}{9}

Hence, Our Required Answer is 4P/9.
