Given :-

  • Length of race = 1200 m .
  • Speed of A = 27 km/h
  • Speed of B = 45 km/h .

To Find :-

  • when will they meet again for the first time on the track when they are running in the same direction and the opposite direction ?

Solution :-

→ usual speed of both in same direction = S2 - S1 = 45 - 27 = 18 km/h = 18 * (5/18) = 5 m/s .

so,

→ Time taken by them to meet for the first time on the track while running in same direction = Length of track / usual speed in same direction = 1200 / 5 = 240 seconds = 4 minutes (Ans.)

and,

→ usual speed of both in opposite direction = S2 + S1 = 45 + 27 = 72 km/h = 72 * (5/18) = 20 m/s .

so,

→ Time taken by them to meet for the first time on the track while running in opposite direction = Length of track / usual speed in opposite direction = 1200 / 20 = 60 seconds = 1 minute (Ans.)
