Answer:

4

Step-by-step explanation:

No. of students in class : 28

No. of students that have a dog as their pet = 8

No. of students that have a cat as their pet  = 6

No. of students that have both dog and cat as their pet = 10

      Total no. of students that have pet(s) = 8 + 6 + 10 = 24

No. of students that do not have a dog or cat as their pet animal at home =

No. of total students in class - No. of students that have pet(s)

= 28 - 24

= 4

∴ No. of students that do not have pet(s) = 4

Hence Proved.

Step-by-step explanation:

i. Let U be the set of student , D be the set of students who have dog and C be the set of students who have cat.

n(U) = 28, n(D) = 8, n(C) = 6,

Number of students who drink Tea and Coffee = n(D ∩ C) = 10

ii. n(D ∪ C) = n(D) + n(C) – n(D ∩ C)

n(D U C) = 8 + 6 – 10

∴ n(D ∪ C) = 4

4 students do not have a dog or cat as their pet animal at home.
