No. of students in Pratap House = x/4.

No. of students in Ranjit House = 3x/10.

No. of students in Sanjeev House = 3x/20.

No. of students in Chandragupta House = 18.

or, x/4 + 3x/10 + 3x/20 + 18 = x

or, x - (x/4 + 3x/10 + 3x/20) = 18

or, (20x - 5x - 6x - 3x) = 360

or, 6x = 360.

or, x = 60.

i.e. There are 60 students in total. [Ans]
