In a class test 5 marks are given for every correct answer and -2 marks for every incorrect
answer.
i. Ramesh answered all the questions and scored 30 marks though he got 10 correct answers.
Find his final score.
ii. Sheela also answered all the questions and scored -12 marks though she got 4 correct
answers. How many incorrect answers had they attempted?

correct answer for 10 questions

10×5=50. ( 5 mark for each correct answer)

he scored only 30 marks ,which means 20 marks lost due to incorrect answer.

so 20/2 = 10 questions incorrectly answered. ( -2 for every wrong answer)

so his final score is 30.

ii. Sheela

correct answer for 4 questions : 4×5= 20

but she has got -12 marks

score is in negative which means she must have answered incorrectly for 16 questions (16×2= 32)

so her correct answer score +20 is adjusted with incorrect answer score of -32 ...so she has got -12 marks.
