Step-by-step explanation:

let the marks obtain in maths Be x then the marks obtain in English

will be (30-x)

according to the question

(x+2)(30-x-3)=210

( x+2)(27-x)=210

27 x - x square + 54 - 2 x =210

- x square +25 x -156 =0

xsquare - 25 x + 156 =0

on comparing with

a x square + bx + c =2

a=1,b=-25,c=156

by using formula

x=-b-+√b square-4ac÷2a

_(-25)-+√(-25) square-4(1)(156)÷2(1)

25-+√625-624÷2

25-+√1÷2

x=25-+1÷2

taking (+) sign

x=25+1÷2

26÷2

x=13

taking (-) sign

x=25-1÷2

24÷2

x=12

when x =12 then

marks obtained in maths is 12

marks obtained in English is= 30 - x

30 - 12

18

when when x=13 then

marks obtained in maths is 13

marks obtained in English is 30 - x

30 - 13

17

hence, the required marks obtained mathematics are 12 and 13 and marks obtained in English are 18 and 17
