In A class test, the sum of the marks obtained by P in maths and science is 28. Had he got 3 marks more in maths and 4 marks less in science, the product of marks obtained in the 2 subjects would have been 180. Find the marks obtained by him in the two subjects separately

Let Marks of P in Science is X
Math. is (28-X)

New marks

Science = (X-4)

Math = 28-X+3
= 31-X

ATQ
(X-4) ×(31-X) =180

31X-124-X^2+4X =180
X^2-35X+304=0
X^2-16X-19X+304=0
X(X-16)-19(X-16)=0
(X-16)(X-19)=0
X=16 or 19

So P s marks are

\huge{\bold{\red{Science=16}}}
tex]\huge{\bold{\red{Math=12}}}[/tex]

Or

\huge{\bold{\red{Science=19}}}\huge{\bold{\orange{Math=9}}}[/tex]
