Solution :

If the ratio of boys to girls is 5:6 then we have ratio a:b and value of a is 20

So,

=> a/b = 5/6

=> b/20 = 6/5

=> b = 6 × 20/5

=> b = 6 × 4

=> b = 24

So, there are 24 girls in the class. Now put the value of b in the equation.

=> a/24 = 5/6

=> a = 5×24/6

=> a = 5 × 4

=> a = 20

Now, find total students in the class

=> a + b

=> 20 + 24

=> 44

So, total students in the class is 44
