Let the amount for the second position be x.

Then prize for first position = 5x /3

Prize for second position = x

Prize for third position = 4x / 7

Since total prize money is 6800 ,

5x / 3 + x + 4x / 7 = 6800

( 5x * 7 + 21 * x + 4x * 3 ) / 21 = 6800

( 35x + 21x + 12x ) / 21 = 6800

68x / 21 = 6800

x = 6800 / 68 * 21

x = 2100

Therefore the prizes are :-

First prize = 5x / 3. = 3500

Second prize = x = 2100

Third prize = 4x / 7 = 1200
